JOLENE ROSE (EDMONDS) MARTYN

Friendly, fun-loving, humorous, & compassionate …these qualities describe Jolene Rose Martyn, who was taken away suddenly from her family and friends on Thursday, April 29, 2009, at the age of 27 years.

Jolene was born to Darlene and Randy Martyn on April 3, 1983, in Cranbrook, British Columbia. She was a bright, bubbly, young girl, who loved to socialize and make people laugh. She had an infectious smile and outgoing personality, which attracted many friendships in her life.

When Jolene was a young girl, she enjoyed many sports and became quite an athlete in volleyball and track and field. Her favorite sport was swimming and was a member of the Pass Piranhas’ Swim Club. She excelled in swimming, winning many ribbons and the “Selkirk” trophy for “Rookie of the Year”. Reading a good book was another favorite pastime that she enjoyed on quiet days. She loved to socialize with her family and friends, and everyone enjoyed her natural gift of making people laugh. She was a very good comedian, who loved to entertain us with her silly jokes, making us all laugh until we cried. She had many personal struggles throughout her lifetime, but remained hopeful and strong in finding a solution to her problems.

Her loving nature attracted John Ensign into her life, and they were soon married on February 23, 2006. She also had such a compassionate, loving nature towards all types of animals and loved the unconditional love that they gave to her. Her presence will always remain in our hearts, and we will remember the love and the laughter that she gave to us all.

Left to celebrate her life is her husband John Ensign of Taber; her loving mother Darlene Edmonds and her loving step-father Pete Lajoie of Coleman; her brother Kyle (Shelby) Martyn of Cranbrook; her favorite uncle Tim (Terri Garszczal) Edmonds of Sparwood and the numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

A public “Visitation” celebrating Jolene’s life was held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel in Blairmore (13461 – 20 Avenue). A graveside service took place at the Blairmore Union Cemetery on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jolene may be made to the SPCA – Humane Society (Box 725, Blairmore, AB, T0K 0E0) or Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation “Mental Health Program” (Bag 1, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).
