1927-2022  ~  Our lovely, quiet, wickedly clever, and strong mother peacefully left us on 20222202 a perfect palindrome.
Mum, Nana, Nana Banana, Kathleen loved her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Her Canadian family, her Scottish family, and her far flung world family and friends.
Mum was an adventurer born in Saint Catherine's, Ontario Canada in 1927, moved to New York City (Hell's Kitchen) and returned to Scotland and to the Isle of Jura and Oban as a little girl.
A child of the seashore and the town Kathleen was the apple of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parent's eye. From a wee highland girl, she grew into a brave, graceful young woman who grew up during a World War with her little sister Maureen and wanted to see the world.
Mum traveled to Canada, explored the continent, lived in two countries and three provinces. She married wee Hamish McDonald and had three children: Duncan Cameron McDonald, her son, and the apple of her eye, was named for her beloved grandfather Duncan Cameron, the lighthouse keeper, Sheena Lynn McDonald, who shared her passion for new places and books, and Sharon Ann McDonald, named for Mum's father Sam and shared Mum's sense of humour and love of family.
Settling in Elkford BC and Cranbrook BC, Mum welcomed daughter-in-law Anna Hickey and son-in-law Brent Waters, grandchildren Tara, Jura, Kyle, Randa, Taylor and Callum, and great grandchildren Brookelynn , Maya, Liam, Kendraa, Austin and baby Ava.
Our world will be just a little bit less without her, but her love for all of us will keep us strong forever.
A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held soon. Condolences can be shared at www.cherishedmemoriesfs.com
