On Tuesday December 14, 2021, surrounded by family, Mrs. Kathleen Elizabeth Lamothe (nee Righton) passed away peacefully at the Elk Valley Hospital at the age of 86 years.
Kathleen leaves to mourn her passing her children, Janice (Brian) Flewelling, Geoff (Cathy) Lamothe, and Greg (Karen) Lamothe; grandchildren Kristen, Lauren, Jenna, Heidi, and Ava; her great granddaughter Emmalyn, and siblings Margaret (Robert) Shea, Joan Sloan, and Bill (Casey) Righton. She will also be dearly missed by her friend Ruth and beloved cat Leo. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Carroll in 2009 after 56 years of marriage, and her brothers Rupert and Keith Righton.
Kathleen and Carroll were married in Iroquois Falls, ON in 1953 and immediately left for Baden Baden Germany as Carroll was in the R.C.A.F. Following their return from Germany they spent time in different communities across Canada, and eventually settled in Kirkland Lake, ON where they would raise their three children after Carroll left the service. Kathleen enjoyed fashion and spent a career in the industry. In 2003, they chose to retire in Fernie, allowing them more time with family.
Kathleen loved to spend time downtown browsing through the local shops and socializing. She made many friends and loved to brag about her children and grandchildren. Kathleen truly believed she was the luckiest woman alive to live in such a great place. She marched to the beat of her own drum and found good in everyone; the glass was always half full. Kathleen will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank Dr. Soetart who had a special place in her heart, Dr. Tessler and the awesome nursing staff of the Elk Valley Hospital for their extraordinary care.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to Elk Valley Hospice or to Twin Meadows Animal Rescue.
