Kurt Speta of Calgary passed away on January 14, 2013 at the age of 62 years while on vacation in Kiev, Ukraine.

Kurt was born in Frankfurt Germany to William and Johanna Speta. He graduated Malaspina College in Nanaimo, B.C. as a Heavy Duty mechanic and later became a master mechanic. Kurt was very respected in his field of work which became mining management. He lived in many places but eventually grew some roots in Fernie, B.C. Later in life he travelled a lot splitting his time between homes in Calgary, Alberta and Ghana, Africa. He lived most of his life through his children and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was known for helping others almost to a fault, whether it be career wise, financially or other. Kurt will be deeply missed.

Kurt is survived by his children Dustin (Cindy), Katrina, Billy, John David and Jaden; grandchildren Lissenia, Jacob, Samuel, Miley and Lily. He is also survived by brothers, Kelly, Tom, Ernie, Bill, Ron and Bob; sisters Janey and Carol. Kurt was predeceased by his parents William and Johanna Speta.

Those wishing to pay their respects did so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
