It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Jean Shade (nee Brown), on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Margaret, better known as Jean, was born in Fernie on August 24, 1932 to parents Edward and Minnie Brown.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, of 61 years Archie Shade, 6 children: Gail (Dale) Guest, George Shade, Linda Shade (Wally Dixon), Donald (Jennifer) Shade, Debbie (Kenn) Sisley and Jerry (Leann) Shade, 9 grandchildren: Alan (Cory), Jennifer (Kevin), Johnathon (Jill), Jolene (Ryan), Jody (Des), Kelly (Chris), Jaxon, Kennedi, and Seth, and 12 great grandchildren (with one more on the way): Saige, Kylen, Danika, Daemon, Layla, Chase, Danisha, Connor, Tristan, Chase, Alice and Mike. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister-in-law, Beverley Brown and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her parents Edward and Minnie Brown, brother Robert (Bobby) Brown, her sister Dorothy (Gordie) Hawkins, brother Edward (Shirley) Brown and her nephew Eddy Brown.
In the Spring of 1954 Jean attended schooling in Calgary to become a Nursing Aide, and on April 5, 1954 received her First Aid Certificate. On December 25, 1954 she married Archie Shade. Christmas day was chosen because it was the only day that the family business, Fernie Meat Market would be closed.and all the family could attend. She then devoted the rest of her life to raising their children with unconditional love and support. Always keeping busy, Jean enjoyed knitting, sewing and embroidery, preparing wonderful meals and baked treats for family and friends, tending to her beautiful gardens, and always listening to the latest news and events on CBC Vancouver.
Jean touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
