Margaret Siep passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm, Alberta. She lived a long and healthy life and was loved by her family and friends.

She was born in Fernie, BC on May 21, 1918 to John and Rose Serek. She was the last surviving member of the Serek family of Fernie, of her generation. She is also predeceased by her brothers Steve and Joe Serek of Fernie and her sister Mary Vrabec of Bellvue, Alberta.

She married her first husband John Perchinsky in 1934 and moved to Michel-Natal, BC area. She had 3 children and one foster daughter.

She was predeceased by son Melvin Perchinsky (Pearl) of Penticton in October 2017.

She is survived by Deanne Fjordbotten (Leroy deceased) of Claresholm and Margy Berg (Warren) of Claresholm and niece Helen Galla (Murray) of Trail, BC.

She is survived by grandchildren Dr. Michael Perchinsky (Mary-Ann) of Victoria BC; Dana Perchinsky; Tracy Hubbard (Dean) of Granum, AB; Karine Wilhauk (Shawn) of Claresholm, AB; Kiersten Berg of Cochrane, AB; Charmaine Berg (Gerald) of Tramore, Ireland and Jennifer Berg (Forest) of Meadow Creek, BC; great-grandchildren Miranda, Justin, and Andrew; Madison; Waya, Jael, Violet and Angus; Benjamin, Jacqueline and Richard.

Education was very important to Margaret and even though she had only grade 6, she studied and passed her GED, then attended SAIT in Calgary and graduated a Nursing Aide. She then worked at Pincher Creek and Fernie Hospital before finally getting a position at Michel-Natal Hospital and then Sparwood Hospital. She had a passion for helping those in need and being a service to others.

In 1969, she married Charlie Siep and moved to Sparwood, BC. He predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by step children Arnold (Nadine) and family of Kelowna, BC; Shirley Stewart and family of Sooke, BC; and predeceased by Eileen Walsh (Bob) and family of Lilloet, BC.

Margaret loved her family and spending time with them. She went on many family holidays to the mountains and especially enjoyed trips to Fernie, Sparwood and the Okanagan. She loved nature and especially watching for wildlife. She loved cooking cabbage rolls and perogies. Her specialty was baking pies, cakes and cinnamon buns.

No Funeral is planned at this time. A special thank you goes out to staff at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm where she has resided the last 7 years. They provided her wonderful care and attention.
