Mark Wayne Paniec ‘Sparky’

July 1, 1961 – April 21, 2016

On April 21, 2016 Mark unexpectedly passed from this earth due to a tragic accident. He was born on July 1, 1961 in Michel, BC to parents Lydia and Joe Paniec.

Mark worked and lived in the Elk Valley his entire life. He had many careers with mining companies; most of it was spent as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.

Mark married his high school sweetheart, Bruna Paron, in 1982. Together Mark and Bruna raised 2 children and celebrated 34 years of marriage. His children, Amy and Christopher, were his greatest accomplishment. Ask Mark of his children and he spoke with great pride and joy about Amy’s accomplishments and Chris’ short journey in life.

Mark pursued his love for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, quading and snowmobiling the entire Elk Valley and Flathead Valley. He was very passionate about his outdoor activities. His skills were his ability to lead excursions anywhere; he was an experienced and versatile snowmobiler. Mark and Bruna shared many outdoor excursions together. They spent countless hours enjoying the valleys.

Mark was a friend to everyone and always had a smile on his face with a laugh to share - ready and waiting for you. He was a helper to all, and will be greatly missed.

Mark is survived by his wife Bruna and his daughter Amy. He was predeceased by his son Chris in 2004. Mark is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Trudy (Lilio) Colonello, Monica Beranek, Joe (Carol) Paniec, Sharon (Louis) Myles, Ken Paniec and Tracey (Scott) Dyck, his sister-in-law Luciana (Greg) Derkach and his brother-in-law Tony (Deborah) Paron as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
