PATON:
Sadly we announce the passing of Marlene Paton, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who passed away January 13, 2011 after a valiant battle against cancer, just days before her 50th wedding anniversary to Lawrence (Larry) Paton.
Marlene was born October 9, 1943 in Prelate, Saskatchewan and later moved to Redcliff, Alberta where she met and fell in love with Lawrence Paton. They were married on January 27, 1961 and resided in Redcliff where they both worked at the Dominion Glass Company, close to family and friends. They were blessed on August 17, 1971 with a son, Tyrone Lawrence Paton. A few years passed and the couple transferred to Vancouver with Dominion Glass. There they purchased a home in North Delta where Marlene enjoyed family, friends, gardening and working.
In 1972 Marlene and Larry moved to the new coal community of Elkford, BC where they soon purchased a house. This house soon became a loving home for Marlene, Lawrence and Ty. Marlene found work with the Royal Bank’s newest branch in Elkford and enjoyed many years with them.
Marlene enjoyed 39 years in Elkford with her family, friends and her dogs. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, camping and travel.
Marlene will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband Lawrence, her son Tyrone (Barbara), grandchildren Tawni, Justin, Keely and Kadin, and her beloved pets, Heidi and Tuffy. She is also survived by her mother Helen Wolodchenko, her sister Shirley (Chuck) Black, her brother Ron (Ingrid) Wolodchenko, her mother-in-law Viola Paton, in-laws Gail and Norman Finlay, Sandy and Dale Blohm, Wendel (Maria) Paton, Harley (Janice) Paton, Maureen (Phil) Henri, and Colin (Debbie) Paton with their families. She was predeceased by her father Steve Wolodchenko, her father-in-law William Paton and her niece Candice Wolodchenko.
A Memorial Service was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Monday, January 17th with Kay Bottolfson officiating.
