Maureen, Lucille Holm (nee Francis)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Lucille Holm (nee: Francis) on February 6, 2012 at the age of 89 years.

Maureen was born in British Guyana on August 14, 1922. That is where she met the love of her life, Louis Holm. They were married in 1943 and started their life of travel and adventure. Her children were born in Venezuela, Trinidad, Canada and Brazil. Maureen loved to cook and will always be remembered for her delicious and exotic meals. She loved to spend time with friends and family, especially the kids. She had a green thumb and grew a wonderful garden. Maureen was an active member of the Catholic Church and sang in the choir.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents Marcel and Carmen, husband Louis, two brothers; Mike and Marcel (Sonny) Francis as well as two sisters; Jean Anderson and Dorothy Bywater.

Left to mourn her passing are her children: Marcus (Alice) Holm, Brian (Suzanne) Holm, David (Janice) Holm, Richard Holm, Catherine (Rick) Nadeau along with grandchildren; Nicholi Holm, Benjamin (Martha) Holm, Annie (Roger) Holm, Michelle (Mathew) Obre, Nathan Holm, Mathew Holm, Anrea Berube (Chris) Holm, Joseph, Ryder and Maureen Nadeau, Paula (Dave) Holm-Kraychy, Danielle (Martin) Holm and 9 great grandchildren.

Prayers were held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the memorial service following on Monday, February 13, 2012, Father Bart von Roijen Celebrant, with a luncheon to follow.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rocky Mountain Village and Elk Valley Hospital for their kindness and consideration over the past year. Special thanks go out to her friend Sharon and son-in-law Rick for being there for Mom.
