It is with deep sadness the family of Maureen Rosicky announce her death on Saturday. September 1, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Jaffray. She was 93 years old.
Maureen was born on June 25, 1925 at the St. Eugene Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C. She spent her early childhood in Wardner then lived in Nelson, then during the War in Vancouver where she worked for Boeing Aircraft building fighter planes. On November 11, 1946 she married the love of her life Andy Rosicky and they moved to Wardner where they raised their family. In 1985 she moved to her apartment in Cranbrook where she lived right up until her death. During her life she golfed, curled, bowled, floor curled and skied.
She was a Lifetime Member of Hospital Auxiliary and was named Cranbrook Volunteer of the Year. She called BINGO for Seniors first at Extended Care then Steeple View and finally, at Joseph Village- right up until July of this year … 33 years. She made beautiful afghans, over 100 of them which she gifted to many. Her family was everything to her. She was a wonderful lady who touched many lives in her 93 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Andy, brother Douglas Holtom, sister and brother in law
Enid and Marvin McLeod and two great grandsons Ian Shepherd and Zeke Fantuz. She is survived
by her daughters Karen (Ron) Breakwell, Wendy (Peter) Van De Weyer. Grandchildren Shaun (Krista)
Damstrom, Scott(Jenny) Damstrom, Marla (Jay) Jones, Ryan(Denise) Damstrom, Colin (Laurie)
Breakwell, Lea (Steve) Maughan. 10 great grandchildren a sister in law Darlene Rosicky and numerous nieces and nephews.
At a later date her ashes will be interred at Westlawn Cemetery with her husband Andy and beside her
sister and brother in law. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm. at the Jaffray Community Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Cranbrook Health Care Aux Society, 30-8th Ave South, Cranbrook, B.C. V1C2K3
