Feb 2, 1940 - Jan 17, 2018
On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, with the loving support of his wife, sons and their wives, grandchildren and extended family, Maurice Lenard Fraser was granted his final wish of passing away peacefully at his home.

The generosity and unwavering support provided to the family by Gail Phillips and Caregiver Vanessa Hydamacka during Maurice's final hours and the incredible dedication of Dr. Jeff Rader, Sparwood Emergency Room nurses Katherine, Leila and Stacey, and Lab & X-Ray Department staff Jackie and Cindy allowed Maurice to pass with dignity and caring.

Born in Maple Creek, SK on February 2, 1940, Maurice was loved and respected for his honesty and integrity. He was a friend to many, a stranger to none; a hard-working man, always willing to lend a hand whenever or wherever help was needed - and each time with a smile. A skilled mechanic, Maurice loved his job and enjoyed working at Coal Mountain and Byron Creek, where he was given the nickname "Metric" by Crusher Myles for his absolute dislike of having to use two wrench sets! He was a dedicated employee and co-worker who consistently gave his best.

Maurice loved family time; fly fishing, hunting, and camping with great friends. Relationships were important to him; he appreciated everyone in his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose legacy will live within the hearts of those who loved him most.

Predeceased by son Dwaine, Maurice is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Sharon and their sons, Brad (Kim Durant) and Kent (Heather Cutts), grandchildren Angie Durant, Jackie (Larry) Gejdos, Tessa, Bryanna and Blake, and his great grandchildren Mikayla, Colby and Ty. Also left to mourn his passing are sisters Gail Halko and Debbie Fraser, Erma Fraser and Sharon Fraser as well as a large extended family.

He was also predeceased by his parents, Clarence (Red) and Zora, brothers Bill, Harvey, Reggie, and Douglas, his sister Darlene, sister-in-law Gloria Fraser and his brother-in-law Brian Halko.

Friends are invited to join the Fraser family for a Celebration of Life at the Sparwood Senior's Drop In Center at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27th.

Honorary pallbearers are Brad Fraser, Kent Fraser, Dick Cook, Victor Tougas, Gordon Whiting, Danny Whiting, Trudy Whiting and Brian Brons.

"We had our ups and downs, but we had a heck of a good ride! Thank you for being an amazing husband!" - Sharon

Memorial tributes may be made in Maurice's name to Lilac Terrace, PO Box 1587 Sparwood, BC V0B 2G0.
