We regret to announce the passing of Merle Anne McArthur (nee Stevenson), born on January 22, 1931 in Winnipeg, MB and died November 19, 2017 in Vernon, BC.
Merle married her high school sweetheart, Bob McArthur in 1951 in Vancouver, BC. Together they raised three children while living in several different communities in BC throughout Bob's banking career.
Merle was primarily a mother and homemaker who also worked in retail. She enjoyed crafts and especially singing and directing church choirs in Princeton and Fernie.
Merle is survived by her 2 daughters Donna Albury and Jill (Jim) Silano, 1 son Blair (Val) McArthur, 2 granddaughters Sarah Silano and Stephanie (Scott) Silano, 3 grandsons Chris Albury, Justin McArthur, Matthew (Remi) McArthur and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Bob McArthur in 2012, grandson Jason Silano in 2012 and son-in-law Josh Handley in 2017.
A private family service will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Merle's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to express our gratitude to all of the staff at Creekside Landing residential care facility in Vernon for their kind and loving care for the past 5 years.
