Michael Darren Bax

Michael “Mike” Darren Bax (Baxy) born June 7, 1972 in Terrace, BC.

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Michael on December 15, 2012. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Bax (nee Rossignol), his son Connor Ryan Bax, his father Louis Bax (Barb Hamilton), and his brother David (Camille) Bax with their children, Sarah, Lauren and Kyle. He also leaves to mourn his passing extended family in Ontario; his in-laws, Mario and Patricia Rossignol and his brother- in- law Mario (Donni) Rossignol Jr., with their children, Brendan and Madelaine as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his mother, Edith Bax on December 11, 2007.

Mike grew up in Fernie, BC and attended both elementary and secondary school there. When he completed high school, he moved to Lethbridge, AB and studied to become a mechanic. Even though Mike spent 10 years living in Cranbrook, BC, he returned to the Valley in 2011 to work at Mountain Mechanical in Sparwood. This is where he and Melissa made their comfortable new home.

Mike loved being at Lake Koocanusa where he, Melissa and Connor spent 6 years camping. He was especially known for his love of cooking and prided himself for being known as the “Martha Stewart of the Kooc”. Mike’s passion was fixing things, making things work better and go faster. He enjoyed spending time riding the Ranger and attending archery shoots with his son and friends. Most importantly, Mike loved being with his family, whether it was watching movies at home, taking a road trip or hot, sunny vacations.

Mike will be truly missed by all his family and friends near and far and by those that had the pleasure of ever shaking his hand.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association for the Kootenays, 39 13th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC, V1C 5E3.
