Norman Napoleon Gaudreau, born October 2, 1932 in Timmins, ON entered into eternal rest June 3, 2012 at the Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, BC.

Norman is survived by his wife of 60 years and the love if his life, Gilberte “Babette” (nee Mathe) Gaudreau, his two sons: Philippe (Louise Beaumier) Gaudreau and Michel (Louise Allaire) Gaudreau and his loving daughter Jeanne (Heinz) Kraps, grandchildren Natalie (Ian) Clarke and Chantale (Adam) Johnson, five great grandchildren: Kaylee, Dylan, Ashley, Amanda and Kyle, and his one and only beloved sister Pauline Lehoux and her three sons; Dennis, Jacques and Normand. He was predeceased by his father Napoleon (Paul) Joseph Gaudreau, his mother Blanche Jolicoeur Gaudreau, his father- in-law Euclide Mathe and his mother- in-law Jeanne Mathe.

Norman’s golden heart stopped beating and his hardworking hands at rest. His working travels took him to most continents. He was constantly seeking to learn, and this was demonstrated when he furthered his education via correspondence; graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s of Science in construction engineering.

Wherever work took him, he always said “If my wife cannot be with me then I won’t go!” He expatriated himself to provide for his family. Norman worked all of his 60+ years of his life to nurture his family and to enjoy retirement with his wife. Unfortunately Alzheimer’s chose our Dad.

Norman was a man loved by all. He was warm, kind, soft spoken and well versed in language, a man with a huge golden soft heart, He was always willing to help family and anyone else in need. Norman will be remembered for his satisfied smirk when he looked lovingly upon his family. He will be missed greatly by those whose lives he touched.

Babette, Jeanne, Michel and Phil would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rocky Mountain Village for their tender loving care to ensure that Norman was happy and well cared for. As well we would like to thank Dr. Rodney Geddis.
