May 3, 1936 - February 27, 2019
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, so she could once again be with her beloved husband in Heaven. She was born on May 3rd, 1936 in Natal, BC. She was raised in Fernie, where she completed her Grade 13. She then moved to Vancouver and attended UBC to complete her Nursing training.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, George, on December 24th, 2018; Olga is survived by her daughter, Kathleen, son Walter (Charlotte); step-grandchildren Danielle and Evan; brother John Nowik (Diana) and their children Dr. Christina & Joanna Nowik; as well as extended family.
Olga chose to stay in her own home after the passing of her husband, and this was only possible due to the efforts of the Hornby Island Care Team. She and the family were very grateful for their service.
A Traditional Catholic Latin Requiem Mass was held on March 7th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Chapel. Interment happened at Hornby Island Cemetery at 1 pm on March 8th, 2019. Donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society in her memory.
