Raymond Donald Myles of the Elk Valley passed away peacefully on September 16, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Ray was born in Natal, BC on August 5, 1946.

Ray embodied quite the entrepreneurial spirit and opened up a few businesses during his life. The majority of his career was spent operating his contracting company, hiring himself out to the local mines and other companies in the Valley.

Ray was an advocate for many things in the Valley, never shying away from voicing his opinion. These attributes served him well as a member of the School Board, and also as a lifelong member of the Sparwood & District Fish and Wildlife Association where he received “The Conservation Legacy Award” for lifetime achievement in March 2016. He spearheaded many conservation projects in the Valley.

Above all else, Ray loved spending time with family and friends. These were the moments that could always bring a smile to his face. The warmer months often found Ray enjoying hunting and fishing, or relaxing at the cabin, while the return of the snow meant Ray would soon be heading to Mexico for the Winter.

Ray will be lovingly remembered for his devotion to his family, friends, and the Valley he loved so much. Rest In Peace.

Ray is survived by his children: Michele Musil (Bob Klassen), Wade (Renee) Myles, and Lance (Robyn) Myles, and his grandchildren: Tyrel Musil, Ethan Musil, Fontanna Myles, Erika Myles and Dylan Myles. Also left to mourn his passing is his mother Gwendolyn Joan Myles, his sister Sherry Armitage (Wayne Ragan), and brothers Ken Myles (Darlene Google) and Terry Myles

(Gail Milledge).

Ray was predeceased by his father John “Jock” Myles, his grandson Dakottah James Alexander (Cody) Myles, and his wife Sylvia Frances Myles (nee Vickers).
