With loved ones at his bedside, Richard passed away on February 24, 2018 at the Elk Valley Hospital at the age of 54.
The only son of Edwin and Agnes Voth, Rick was born in Hebert, SK on December 12, 1963. When Rick was 10, employment opportunities for his father brought the Voth family to Fernie where they put down roots.
Following his high school graduation, Rick gained employment with Westar Mining and worked there until the mine closed in 1992. For a short period of time he tried a stint in the big city of Calgary, only to discover that city living was not for him! He promptly returned to Fernie and was hired on at Elkview Coal where he worked as an equipment operator for the last 30 years. He was a member of the UMWA and the USWA.
Rick's greatest pride and joy was becoming a father to two sons, Michael and Braydon. He shared his love and appreciation of the outdoors with the boys, and together they enjoyed many road trips, camping trips, and rounds of golf together and much more.
Rick himself enjoyed spur-of-the-moment road trips and back country drives, listening to most genres of music, early morning coffee on his front porch, and sitting around a campfire with a cold beer or a glass of wine. He loved the simple things in life.
Family and close friends were very important to Rick. He touched many people's lives and will be greatly missed, forever loved, and always in our hearts.
Rick is survived by his son Braydon Voth, his mother Aggie Stockell, sisters Ronda (Dale) Corrigan and Teresa Voth, 2 nieces: Miranda Corrigan (Bryton) and Danielle Corrigan (Mike) and a close uncle, John Voth, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Ed and his son Michael, his grandparents, some aunts and uncles, and his step-father Robert Stockell.
