In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Dan Crabbe. Dan was born in Nakusp, BC on September 19, 1950. He passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, in Fernie, BC at 74 years of age.

Dan is survived by his loving family; his wife, Lynne, daughter, Eden (Ray) Wong, and son, Travis (Heather) Crabbe; his five grandchildren, the joys of his life, Rayden, Tyee, Pearl, Avalon, and Walker. He will be sadly missed by his mother, Dorothy Crabbe; sisters, Louanne (Mike) Flintoft, Sandra Little (David); mother-in-law, Leah Start; brother-in-law, Kim (Debbie) Ward and many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father Robert Rowland Crabbe and his father-in-law Perry Ward.

Dan and Lynne met and were married in Kelowna, BC in 1973. They moved to Edgewood, BC, Dan's hometown, and started their family. Eden was born in 1974 and Travis in 1975. Dan enjoyed family life, his many friends, he took pride in his work, and he played hard.

Dan was involved in the logging industry for most of his life. In his teens he worked in the bush hooking chokers and bucking. When his father decided to retire, Dan purchased his logging trucks and became self-employed and the owner of Crabbe Contracting. Work opportunities brought the family to the south country, and they settled at Tie Lake in Jaffray in 1978. Dan continued to haul logs for CFI and was #1 truck for many years. In the 1990's he decided to sell his truck, bought a cat, skidder, excavator, loader, skid steer and went back to work in the bush with Travis. He loved running all kinds of machinery and was an excellent operator and self-taught mechanic. When he retired from the bush, he still continued to run equipment doing landscape work for many years.

Dan was very active and loved sports. In his younger years he played softball and hockey. He also loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping and traveling. He had many great memories of hunting and fishing trips with his wonderful friends. In his later years he took up golf and became a huge fan of watching his grandchildren play lacrosse, softball, volleyball and basketball. He was proud of them all.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Dan in September. The Crabbe family would like to thank Dr. Stuckey and the wonderful nurses and staff at Rocky Mountain Village for their caring and kindness to Dan during his stay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sand Creek Community Club, Box 393, Jaffray, BC V0B 1T0. E-transfers to: info@jaffraycommunityhall.com
