May 13, 1942 - May 19, 2021
On May 19th, with her daughter by her side, Roberta Jean Jurczak passed away peacefully at the age of 79, freed from her battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Blairmore, AB on May 13, 1942 to parents Hector and Albina Vanoni.
Roberta is survived by her children, Russell Curry (Vicky) of Brantford, ON, Robyn Curry of Fernie, BC and her step son Wesley Curry; her brother Robert (Sharon)Vanoni and nieces Leanne and Lori. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Jurczak; and family of Fernie as well as her first husband, Bob Curry.
Roberta worked various jobs throughout her life including working as a teacher's aide at Fernie Secondary, but she was probably best known as "the chicken lady". For years Roberta, Pete and Robyn would make their weekly trek to the Hutterite farm in Alberta, picking up a truckload of butchered chickens and turkeys that she would sell to her many local customers.
Roberta was feisty, outspoken, and a woman not afraid to speak her mind! She also had a generous, loving heart and a great sense of humour and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
RIP, Roberta.
