It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, sister and auntie, Rosalie Marion Williams.

Rosalie was born to Gabriel and Katrina Horvath on July 23, 1940. Born in Fernie, she was raised in Olsen and White Spruce, moving to Fernie when she was about 10 years old. She attended her early years of school in Michele/Natal before attending school in Fernie.

She loved to spend time in her flower and vegetable gardens. Rosalie was a wonderful cook, having a real knack for cooking wild meat. She loved to camp and fish, spending many hours with her children and grandchildren on the Koocanusa and at the cabin at Caven Creek.

Rosalie worked as an Industrial First Aid Attendant in the old Kaiser/Westar days, a job she loved. Achieving the highest level of ticket for Industrial first aid, she led her mine rescue team, winning competitions in Vancouver. She was also a proud union supporter of the UMWA local 7292.

A member of the Senior’s Drop In Center, she looked forward to the time she spent with the ladies doing crafts and having lunch. Rosalie was resident of the Rocky Mountain Village, spending many hours outside under the veranda, reminiscing with long-time Fernie friends.

Rosalie passed away peacefully on December 18, 2011. She has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour.

Rosalie will be dearly missed by her own family members: daughter Sherry Lynn Earl (Blake) with grandsons Jaysen and Shawn (Malorie), son Alan Williams (Shannon) with grandson Clayton (Kaylie) and great grandchildren Matthew and Summer, and son David Williams (Lynne). Rosalie also leaves behind her sister Lona Hutchinson and two brothers, John Horvath (Doris) and Wesley Horvath (Elaine). She is survived by many nieces and nephews: Darryl Hutchinson (Dixie) with sons Braydon and Dylan, Shona Sekella (Andy) with sons Levi and Logan, Scott Horvath (Jennifer) with sons Riley and Emmett, John Paul Horvath and daughter Jessica, Cathy Hoszouski (Jason) with sons Tucker, Waylon, and Jackson, and Dallas Horvath (Brenda). She leaves many fond memories to all of us.

Rosalie was predeceased by her son Darren Williams on May 24, 1986, her parents Gabriel and Katie Horvath, her in-laws Harry and Rose Williams of Fernie, BC, and her sister Sharon Evano and nephew Ricky Evano of Blairmore, Alta.

Rosalie’s Memorial Service was held at the Mountainside Community Church on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm with her Pastor, Pastor Shawn Barden officiating.

Her family is thankful for the care given to her by Dr. Lori Gadsden and Dr. Stephen Gray and the staff of the Rocky Mountain Village, and for the many cards, flowers and deliveries of food. Thanks to Back Country Meats and the Ladies from the Mountainside Community Church for providing the luncheon. Thank you also to Pastor Shawn Barden and the worship band that provided music and to John & Lynda at Cherished Memories.
