EVANO:

Sharon “Sheri” Evano

(1948 – 2011)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon “Sheri” Evano (nee: Horvath) of Blairmore, Alberta. She passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the age of 63 years.

Sharon was born to Gabriel & Katrina Horvath on February 24, 1948. She was the third daughter born and always joked that they finally broke the “mold” because now they had the perfect daughter. She loved her family and cherished the good times they shared together.

She was an intelligent, young woman who attended Fernie Secondary School for her education. At an early age, Sheri became a mother of her two sons: Ricky & Randy. She was always there for her boys and was an excellent mother and provider. She was very proud of all their accomplishments in life.

Sheri moved away from Fernie with her young family and spent a few years in Fox Creek and Cache Creek before returning to Southern Alberta. She opened up her “Ceramic Shop” in Hill Springs and had a very successful business. When she and the boys moved to Cowley, she successfully set up her business again in her basement and garage and ran it for many years until she sold it.

Her Canada Post career started in Cowley and her career finished as Postmistress at the Blairmore Post Office in July 2008. After her retirement, Sheri gave much of her time volunteering in the community. It was important to her, and she was proud to do it. She often said, “For every hour and every smile I give, I get ten back.” She belonged to the Junior Forest Wardens and helped maintain the Blue Bird trails. Sheri volunteered at the Pincher Creek Echo and baked for the Polish Ladies’ bake sales. She was a member of the Library Board and belonged to the Ladies Beta Sigma Phi group where she held every position. She loved camping and being outdoors and enjoyed travelling with friends to Ottawa and the Maritimes.

Left to celebrate her life is her son Randy Evano of Blairmore; her two granddaughters Amy and Alissa Evano-Bonertz and her daughter-in-law Dixie Evano as well as Dixie’s sons: Michael and Matthew; her sisters Rosalie Williams and Lona Hutchinson; her brothers: John (Doris) Horvath and Wesley (Elaine) Horvath; her many nieces and nephews: Blake & Sherry Lynn Earl and their sons: Jaysen, Shawn (Mallorie); Allan Williams and son Clayton and David Williams; Darryl Hutchinson and sons: Braydon & Dylan; Andy (Shona) Sekella and sons: Levi and Logan; Scott (Jennifer) Horvath and sons: Riley and Emmett; John Paul Horvath and daughter Jessica; Jason (Kathy) Hoszouski and sons: Tucker, Waylin, and Jackson; Dallas Horvath and friend Brenda; her honoured friends: Marilyn Roemer, Betty Neil, and Sandra Dorosz.

She is predeceased by her son Ricky Evano; her parents Gabriel and Katrina Horvath; and her nephew Darren Williams. She leaves many fond memories to all of us. She will be greatly missed, always loved, but not forgotten.

A “Celebration of Life” for the late Sharon Evano was held on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 2:00 pm at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church (13126 – 21 Avenue, Blairmore, AB) with Pastor Al Robinson officiating.

Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted in memory of Sharon Evano to the Crowsnest Community Support Society (Box 507, Coleman, AB T0K 0M0) or the Canadian Diabetes Association (204, 2323 – 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3).

“Thanks, Sher, for the many wonderful memories.”
