GUMOWSKY
(nee STRONSKI):
With loved ones at her bedside, Sharon Lynn Christine Gumowsky was summoned to her eternal rest at the Elk Valley Hospital on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the age of 62 years.
Sharon was born to parents John and Anne Stronski of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on January 5, 1948. At the age of 21, Sharon married her soul-mate Fred Gumowsky, and in 1979 the couple settled in Elkford with their son Kent.
Sharon enjoyed volunteering at the Elkford Public Library and donating her time to events focused on children. A private woman, Sharon cherished time spent with family and close friends, and caring for and rescuing animals. Selfless and nurturing, Sharon gently embraced those around her, putting the needs of others before her own. Sharon will always be remembered for her warm smile and her compassionate, loving heart.
Predeceased by her father, several aunts and a niece Pam. Sharon is survived by her husband of 41 years, Fred Gumowsky and their son Kent with his girlfriend Derry, her mother Anne Stronski, sister Gail and her husband Calvin Setter with their family, and her brother- in- law Mike Gumowsky and family.
Funeral Services celebrating Sharon’s life were held at Cherished Memories on Wednesday, November 24th with Pastor Noel Bullock officiating. Following the service, Sharon was laid to rest at St. Margaret’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in your area.
