BROWN:

Shirley Marie Brown passed away suddenly at her residence in Fernie, BC on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the age of 74 years.

The funeral service was held from Knox United Church, Fernie, on Tuesday morning, March 16th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jane Clarke officiating. Words of remembrance was shared by Ray Hughes. Cremation with interment in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Fernie. A reception followed in the Senior’s drop in centre.

Shirley was a lifetime resident of the Elk Valley, born in Natal, on February 10, 1936. She worked as telephone operator with BC Telephone company, married Ed Brown on July 11, 1960 and began a 50 year career in the family business, Fernie Meat Market , which was established in 1926 by the Brown family, she continued working alongside her husband and son until the day she passed away.

Shirley is well remembered for her passion for word search, gardening, following the news in the papers, and most important the love of socializing with customers and friends at work. She will be missed by all.

Predeceased by her son, Eddie in 2000, her parents, John and Josephine Baher; two sisters, Annie Wiebe and Josephine Domin.

Shirley is sadly missed by her loving family; husband Ed; son, Mark (Tammy) of Jaffray; sister, Frances Morley(Bill) of Grasmere; half sister, Donna Yaseniuk(Don) of Grassy Lake, Alberta; brothers, Johnny Baher(Joanne) of Elk Valley, Stephen (Waldo) Baher of Fernie.

Memorial donations in memory of Shirley Brown may be sent to the Ghostriders Hockey Association.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
