HOLLAND:

On Saturday, January 1, 2011 George Frederick “Sugar” Holland passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital at the age of 67 years. Sugar was born in Yorkshire, England on January 12, 1943 to parents Judd and Ruth Holland.

An outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed carpentry and darts, Sugar was probably best known for his talent as a tattoo artist. Naturally outgoing, Sugar made friends wherever he went and will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit and his quirky storytelling. Though often stubborn to a fault, Sugar was easily loved and admired by adults and children alike; he will never be forgotten.

Sugar is survived by his wife Joyce and their children: Lynn (Larry) Lento, Ruth (Fred) Hoath, and Shane (Jessica) Holland, 9 grandchildren: Jen (Jason) Luke, Steph (Ryan) Aasen, Jessica Lento, Michael Lento, Shaymus Holland, Tyson Holland, Catrina Linthorne, and Colleen and Mike Novecosky, and 3 great grandchildren: Christian Luke and Ben and Ruby Novecosky. Also left to mourn his passing is siblings Margaret, Alan, Trevor, Mary Janet, Denise and Colin, who all reside in England. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Jonty Holland.

The Funeral Service celebrating Sugar’s life was held at the Jaffray Community Hall on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Following the service, Sugar was laid to rest at the Sand Creek Cemetery.

The Holland Family would also like to thank Dr. Todd Lowen and the nursing staff at the Elk Valley Hospital for the wonderful care given to Sugar.
