Terrence (Terry) Charles Sharp

Passed away peacefully on April 8, 2016 at the Eisenhower Medical Centre in Rancho Mirage, California at the age of 70. Born on May 16, 1945 in Rivers, Manitoba to Paul and Evelyn Sharp, Terry grew up in Penticton, living in Richmond and Cranbrook before moving to Fernie in 1974.

Terry was a passionate and principled man who enjoyed downhill skiing, golf and, in his later years, hot rod cars. After starting his career with Finning Tractor, Terry joined Nohels Logging in the mid 1970s, becoming a partner in the business and ultimately buying the company as the Nohels Group in the mid 1990s. Terry loved his work and the lifelong friendships that he made through it with co-workers, customers, and suppliers. After retiring in 2006, Terry split his time between Fernie and Indian Wells, California.

Terry was extremely proud of his two sons Paul (Karleen) of Calgary and Michael (Caira) of Baynes Lake. He is also survived by his loving companion Denise Carter, his sister Deryn Fulton (Bill), and his five grandchildren, Destiny, Ashton, Lochlan, Alexa, and Xavier.

A service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Mountain Side Community Church, 1622 10 Avenue in Fernie. The family will receive friends at Terry’s home at 20 Mt. Minton from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM after the service to share memories and further celebrate his life. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Terry’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation at 1 (778) 372-8000 or through mail at 200-1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6H 3V2.
