Jul 13, 1956 - Dec 25, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Uwe Franz Brockel, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017.

Uwe was born on Friday, July 13,1956 in Hamburg, Germany. He came to Canada at age 11 when the family immigrated, and after stops in Winnipeg, MB and Lanigan, SK, they finally settled in Sparwood.

Uwe completed his schooling at Sparwood Secondary School and then went on to take his trade training as a millwright and machinist. After working at RB Steel for a few years, he opened his own business, Sparwood Machine Shop. He took great pride in delivering the best service to his clients and customers and he was renowned for being an extraordinary machinist. He retired at age 58.

Uwe had many friends throughout the years, and he loved nothing better than to sip on a cold pint while shooting the breeze with his buddies at The Silver Fox Pub. He had an exceptional mind, always curious and eager to learn, and his memory was second to none.

He had a great sense of humour and would pepper his stories with puns, witticisms, and frequent raunchy jokes.

He was predeceased by his parents, Heidi and Fritz Brockel, and is survived by three siblings: Frank (Marlene) Brockel of Calgary, Chris (Doug) Chala and Katrin (Phill) Taylor, both of Sparwood, as well as seven nieces and nephews and eleven great-nieces/nephews.

An open house celebration of life will be held at The Silver Fox Pub in Sparwood on Saturday, January 6 from 3:00-6:00 pm. Donations will be given to the SPCA in Uwe's memory.
