On April 8, 2011 at the age of 84 Janet Vivian French passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

Janet was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on October 25, 1926, the second of three daughters for parents William and Ethelynd (nee Huntington) Shrigley. On March 3, 1956 Janet married Dale French, a union blessed with two children; James Allan and Patricia Gay. A loving and devoted wife and mother, Janet nurtured her family with a kind, gentle spirit. She enjoyed reading her Bible and mystery novels, knitting, crocheting, and playing the piano and accordion. Janet’s home was a welcome haven to family and friends who were always greeted with a warm smile and wonderful conversation. She will be dearly missed.

Janet is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dale French, her son James with his wife Barbara and their son Ryan of Cranbrook, 2 nieces: Janice Brulotte and Glenda Ewen, and 4 nephews: D’Arcy, Garth, Tim and Tommy DeRoche with their families. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Audrey McKay and Barbara Phillips, and in 1998, her daughter Patricia French.

Janet’s family wish to extend their thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, for their help and support.

The Memorial Service was held at the Elkford Alliance Church on Wednesday, May 4th. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to BC Lions Society, Camp Winfield at www.lionsbc.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
