Apr 19, 1927 - Feb 21, 2018
Wilda passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018, in her 91st year.

Wilda leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 65 years, Doug, her son Bruce (Donna), her daughters Sandra (Mel) and Sharon, and grandchildren Gordon, Samantha (Mark), Britney (Will), Katelyn (Matt), and Jacob.

Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Wilda graduated from the University of Manitoba, majoring in Dietetics.

She moved to Vancouver and while working at VGH, she met Doug. After one date that was set up by mutual friends, they never looked back as they knew they were meant for each other. They married a year later, on July 25th, 1952.

Doug's career in engineering took them to Ontario, where their children were born. In 1969, following Doug's heart - with Wilda, children and pets in tow, they moved to his hometown of Fernie. There, Wilda worked alongside Doug at Quail Builders Supplies, raised their children, and presided over the kitchen, indisputably her domain.

Wilda lived for her family. She delighted them all with her generosity and cooking. All the grandchildren looked forward to the Christmas, spring break and summer vacation traditions, gleeful knowing there would be an abundance of delicious meals, fun games, water and snow sports, and treats of cookies and butter tarts.

Wilda developed a wide range of friends. She was active in curling, bridge, and senior citizens aerobics. She readily took in rotary exchange students. She was a board member of Knox United Church. She volunteered for Red Cross and for Tom Uphill Manor and was a long time President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rocky Mountain Village. When people needed help she stepped forward to volunteer her time. Wilda also loved travelling with Doug and many of their trips around the world were taken with their great friends Mary and Spar East. Quick to make acquaintances and steadfastly keeping in touch, she sent Christmas cards each year to people they met throughout the world.

She loved her family and friends and they meant everything to her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:30 pm at the Knox United Church. A reception will follow.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Shelley Forrest, Dr. Laurie Parsons for their ongoing support and the wonderful wound trauma team of Home Care Nursing at Fernie Hospital for their many years of patiently wrapping Wilda's legs.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rocky Mountain Village would be appreciated, as Wilda was passionate about making the lives of residents of Rocky Mountain Village brighter every day.
