Letter to the editor-Accident waiting to happen?

The intersection of Highway 3 and Caldwell Frontage Road (east of Fernie, B.C.) is in a location where highway motorists are often driving fast, sometimes overtaking and not expecting to stop.

Do we have to wait for someone to be killed there before making it safe?

Surely a no overtaking zone would be the simplest solution to allow safer turning. Better still, a turning lane to clear vehicles from harm’s way as they slow and turn off the highway. This would also make the intersection more obvious to highway travellers.
