As a member of the Fernie Elks Lodge #81, I took keen interest to the points presented by Robert Siddall. I believe our lodge and the general public of Fernie are well aware of the need for additional recreational camping sites in or near Fernie.
We have been actively pursuing the solution to this need. Initial contact has been made with city employees to learn some requirements, suitability factors, and shortfalls of other earlier attempts. A land use agreement or donation by a business, group or individual, heavy equipment and support for the infrastructure are our immediate challenges.
I believe that a great campground would compliment the Fernie area and I encourage anyone supporting this project to contact me.
