Sledhead Think Tank

I was very disappointed with the lack of coverage your paper gave to the Sledhead Think Tank, an important and innovative avalanche awareness event held in Fernie on January 7 at the Park Place Lodge. Organized and hosted by Teck Coal, this event was one in a series of four, held in Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and Blairmore over two subsequent weekends in January. These events brought together snowmobilers and avalanche experts in a collaborative and constructive setting. Teck has been a supporter of the Canadian Avalanche Centre for many years, and the Sledhead Think Tanks were a highly successful demonstration of their significant commitment to public avalanche safety. We heard a tremendous amount of positive feedback from those events and we are very hopeful that Teck plans to host them again next winter. If so, I would also hope your paper gives them the exposure and credit they are due.John KellyOperations ManagerCanadian Avalanche Centre,Revelstoke, BC
