It is with immense gratitude that we write this thank you letter. There are not enough kind words to thank our family, friends, everyone in the community and everyone who has supported us through this difficult time.

The board and staff of the Fernie Women’s Centre would like to thank the community for their overwhelming support in the success of our most recent fund raising project, the Fernie Foodies cookbook.

The advertisement placed by the Fernie District Teachers Association prompted me to do some research about standardized testing in public schools. Parents should assess the pros and cons of this kind of test before deciding whether or not their child should participate.

I would like to express gratitude to the staff of Mainroad East Kootenay for all their hard work to keep the roads safe for us this season.

Those who would turn the Flathead Valley into a National Park would also be those who would develop the Valley, the way Banff National Park has been developed (Banff “townsite”).

I’d like to clarify a few details included in last weeks article about Community Dollars. Columbia Community Dollar (CC$) is a local currency which is also a loyalty program for businesses, a fund raising strategy for community groups, and a community builder for individuals. It is without debt or interest, which was the original intention behind currency.

Kingsman Resources operates in Golden, Barriere and Grand Forks, B.C. and tries to support the local communities by hiring local people to carry out our exploration. During the 1950-1980 I spent considerable time in the Polson Montana Flathead Lake region with my family. My father loved the area and built me a Hydro plane and named it Miss Polson as a thank you to the people of Polson for their friendship and hospitality over the years.

The year before I was to turn 49 was filled with dread. It wasn’t something that I was thinking about consciously. It was instead a subliminal, noticeable relief of the passing of each month.
