Alpine skiing: Whistler’s Renzone wins gold

Ella Renzone from Whistler has won Friday’s BC Winter Games alpine event at Hemlock Resort near Mission. Renzone skied a compiled time of 1:14:28 in the ladies slalom, in a field of 54 competitors.

Rylee Forsyth from Fernie clocked in at 1:15:01, securing second place.

Kayse Panke from Red Mountain came third, with a timing of 1:15:79.

The slalom races took place on Roddy’s run at Hemlock, wiht a 103m vertical drop.

The slalom score comprises times from two runs, one in the morning and again in the afternoon.

A medal ceremony will take place on the mountain at 3:30 p.m. today. Tomorrow, the alpine skiers will compete in the giant slalom.
