The Elk Valley Gymnastics Club’s (EVGC) 2023 competitive season is well underway with many of the club’s athletes achieving personal best high scores and dominating the podium.

Many of the athletes travelled to Invermere, competing in the Winter Cup on January 21-22. Peaks Gymnastics in Invermere hosted a beautiful competition and most of our athletes came home with podium finishes. Congratulations to all! Highest All-Around winners in each specific level included CCP2, Murphy; CPP3 Rosie; Xcel Silver Maelle and Kayla; CCP6, Addison.

Next up was Castlegar’s Kootenay Cup competition which took place on Saturday, February 11th. Competition was strong and many high scores were once again awarded. One of the highlights was that all of the CCP6 gymnasts have now successfully qualified for the 2023 Provincial Championships which take place March 31 - April 2 in Surrey.

Highest All-Around winners in each specific level included CCP2 Willow; CCP3 Rosie; Xcel Silver (age group), Kayla; Xcel Silver (age group) Mae; CCP6, Addison.

EVGC’s competitive head coach, Moa Linde, spoke highly of her team. “The competitive season is off to an exciting start! I am very proud of all of our athletes. They work so hard behind the scenes preparing for competition season. Routines are polished, we’re obtaining high scores, our athletes are making podium finishes and having fun both training and competing.”

Next up is the Key City Invitational in Cranbrook, March 3-5.

“We’ll continue to train, fine tune routines and work hard at staying strong and healthy until then,” said Linde.

Sincere apologies to our athletes mentioned, but Gymnastics BC has introduced new regulations in which we are no longer permitted to publish athlete’s last names.
