The Fernie Ghostriders have announced a number of new signings in the last few weeks.
On June 21, they announced the signing of Josh Kallies, a 2006 Fernie-born forward, who last year played with the Cranbrook Bucks U18 team.
On June 28, Travis Raisanen was added to the team. He is a 2005-born defenseman from Drumheller, AB who played U18AAA Titans hockey last year.
The next signing was Carter Hartt, a 2005-born defenseman from Edmonton, AB who played for the Fort Saskatchewan U18AAA Rangers last year.
Last week the Ghostriders announced the signing of Easton Zenko from Spruce Grove, AB. Zenko played for the PAC Saints U18AA last season.
The Ghostriders are also looking for billet families for the coming season.
A monthly allowance will be provided to billets to help offset the cost of food while the player is staying with them, plus two season tickets for each billet home.
According to fernieghostriders.com, the team is looking for billet families within the community who are willing to provide a safe place for players to reside; who can offer a private bedroom, healthy meals and food choices, as well as a positive home atmosphere which will help support these young men in their development on and off the ice.
“For many of these young players, this will be their first experience living away from home. Opening your home can help enrich a player’s life, which can also be a very rewarding experience for you and your family, one that creates lasting memories. This experience often leads to lifelong bonds between billet families, the players and their own families, even as the players move on throughout their hockey careers.”

Also the Ghostriders will be hosting their annual hockey school from August 21 to 30, 2-23 at the Fernie Memorial Arena. The school will be led by Ghostrider coaches and members of the team.
