The Elk Valley holds a tremendous number of “lapsed” skiers. Folks who once skied, but for a variety of reasons—job, kids, cost—dropped out of the ski scene. Locals Week, hosted at Fernie Alpine Resort from Feb. 1 to 5, offers the chance to get back on the slopes with the latest in gear, a half-day lesson to tune your skills to the gear and an all day lift ticket to enjoy the hill. The package will cost $369 for five days or $89 for a single day.
