Are you itching to hit some trails this weekend? Fernie Alpine Resort will be celebrating its summer season opening weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

Part of the weekend’s activities will be the fifth annual summer community appreciation day.

FAR is inviting residents of Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford, Elko and Jaffray out to enjoy a full day of fun with complimentary lift access for biking, hiking and sightseeing. There will also be a charity barbeque for the Fernie Mountain Bike Club.

Other summer events at FAR will include a Thursday night bike series and feature hikes and climbs.

FAR will be open for the summer season until September 5.
