Business and beer to mark the end of a successful year

Fernie Chamber of Commerce hosted a business and beer event giving locals an opportunity to talk business and unwind.

For many, the winter holidays are a time to unwind with family and friends and celebrate another successful year.

This year, the Fernie Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council (KRIC) and hosted a business and beer event where local business were given the opportunity to unwind while discussing business.

“I think it was really successful, we had lots of people showing up,” Corien Sieders, Executive Director of the Fernie Chamber of Commerce said. “The members really liked it and they would like to see more events like this happening.”

The event, which was held at the Fernie Stanford Resort last Thursday evening, gave local businesses an opportunity to network and discuss new technologies.

“It’s a space where you can build your network, learn about resources to help your business and meet others who aren’t afraid of upping their game with technology,” KRIC project manager Tara Penner said.

Ryan Doehle of Isosceles Business Systems gave a brief presentation on how he’s working with technology in his business. The Fernie Wine Club also gave a brief presentation.

Sieders said that although the event was a success, she would still like to see more people coming to future business and beer events that the chamber plans to host in 2015.
