Fernie residents can now have their say on the next public art project planned for the city.
The Fernie and District Arts Council has been awarded a public art grant by the Columbia Basin Trust for a mural that will reflect Fernie’s “heritage, culture, hopes, dreams and aspirations”.
FDAC is looking for community feedback to further define the mural’s theme and has launched a survey, which closes April 15.
Pick up a paper copy of the survey at The Arts Station, 601 1st Avenue, or fill out the survey online.
A request for proposal for the project is expected to go out to artists this month with a public art jury to make its selection in June.
The mural will be erected on the side of The Beanpod on 7th Street with installation slated for August/September.
It will be funded 80 per cent by Columbia Basin Trust ($24,400) and 20 per cent by the FDAC’s public art reserve ($6100).
