Fernie Secondary School students played their part in helping clean up the Elk River as part of Nation BC Rivers Day.
Twenty-two students from the Immersion Leadership en Action 8/9 class helped clean up trash from around the Elk River and Maiden Lake on Thursday last week.
“What a great morning to get out for Nation BC Rivers Day,” said teacher Janet Kuijt.
“The group was happy, helpful and found very little garbage around the Elk River edge, but lots still around Maiden Lake.
“It was a great experience helping in our community.”
