The Western Financial branch in Fernie hosted a barbecue and garage sale on Saturday, May 23 for funds to go back into the community.

Denise Hutchinson, insurance advisor at Western Financial, said the barbecue was the branch’s participation in Support the Cause to raise bursaries for students in Fernie as well as infrastructure/community grants grants.

“All the money we make, Western will help us and match those donations to help out people in need. So hopefully we did well today,” said Hutchinson.

The Western Financial staff will also go on a 5 km walk on Wednesday, May 27 to further their fundraising efforts.

Last year, the Western Financial branch gave $5000 to the Fernie Trails Alliance.
