Array of Clay arrives at the Arts Station

After receiving submissions from potters and ceramicists from Fernie to Fairmont Hot Springs, Array of Clay will be opening on April 28.

After receiving submissions from potters and ceramicists from Fernie to Fairmont Hot Springs, Array of Clay will be opening on April 28.

“I am confident that the work will be amazing as we have extremely talented potters in the area who have different styles and techniques to share,” said Courtney Baker, administration assistant at The Arts Station.

There were submissions from 11 people, mainly from Fernie, but Baker said there are pieces from a young man in Elkford and two men in Fairmont Hot Springs.

Baker said that Array of Clay will focus on 2D and 3D art instead of 1D pieces like paintings.

She said that, “the pieces will be anything from mugs to clay wall hangings. Individualism is more than encouraged.”

The Arts Station is hoping that the tactile show along with the changing seasons will help inspire local artists.

Array of Clay combines an exhibit and sale of pottery and ceramic works.

Array of Clay opens on April 28, and runs till May 24.

A exhibit showcasing the new works and wood block prints by Michael Hepher will also be opening on the 28th.
