Looking for a unique Christmas present?

You can find something original and locally hand made next week at the second annual Christmas Pottery and Jewelry Show and Sale.

The show is a collaboration of work between Dana Cloghesy and Lisa Martin, sisters that grew up in Fernie. They both attended Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson.

Dana's main focus was jewelry design, where she learned the basics of traditional silver and goldsmithing. Currently, Dana works with sterling silver or silver, precious metal clay with dichroic glass and precious gemstone beads. Variation in the materials, shape, size, and colour make her pieces unique; just like the wearer.

Lisa majored in clay and glaze technology, and has spent the last 15 years producing beautiful pieces of pottery.

“I design functional pottery that is as enjoyable to look at, as it is to use on a daily basis,” said Lisa. “I like making pottery that puts a smile on people's faces, has bold colours with each piece looking unique and varied.”

The show runs for only two days; Friday, November 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 24 from 11 to 5 p.m. It will be held on the second floor gallery at the Fernie Historical Museum. Anyone who makes a purchase will be entered in draws for

pottery and jewelry.

Dana and Lisa look forward to seeing many of Fernie's friendly faces stop by for a visit or look around for Christmas gifts. Entrance is free of charge.

Samples of Lisa's work can be viewed on Facebook at Lisa Martin Pottery and Dana's work can be seen on her website at www.vividdesignsjewellery.com.
