Modern folk duo offers songs of love and nature

Sly Violet is the name the musical group of two give themselves. It is an appropriately cute handle for the folk duo.

Guitarist singer, Violet Clack, is joined by drummer and husband, Sly Boston, blending elements of folk, rock and pop music. Together they weave stories of everyday existence into music that is comparable to the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young or Hayden. Yes, this is some up beat folk ‘tunage’ best described as ‘modern folk.’  In Violet’s voice I hear the confidence of a seasoned performer such as Neco Case or Lily Frost. They’ve received a number of accolades in the past few years including a Barrie New Music Award (BEST FOLK), a top 10 song on OurStage.com and Violet won the Kawartha Lakes Idol competition in 2007 and went on to be a Top 100 finalist on Canadian Idol. Following the release of Feel Your Way Out (2009) the folk duo toured Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and BC and did a second tour in 2010 across British Columbia. A number of Sly Violet’s musical offerings have been played on radio stations throughout southern Ontario and BC. The song writing explores themes of lost and found love, inner turmoil and an affinity for nature. If this sounds at all interesting to you, be happy, they are coming into the Elk Valley for a musical performance.  Sly Violet can be seen and heard on the stage at the Central Bar on Saturday October 15.  Put a flower in your hair for this one.
