Spotify and iTunes users can now put Linden Anthony on repeat after the Fernie musician launched his first EP on the popular music-sharing platforms.

“Lakeside” features four original songs – three of which are new releases – and was digitally released on Friday, June 29.

Anthony (last name Gigliotti) has spent the past six months working on the EP, which he describes as “campfire music”.

“I’ve independently released stuff in the past but this is kind of the first big one,” he said.

“It’s kind of like laid-back, chill, acoustic kind of stuff and it’s mostly written about stuff you would do camping (and) hiking.

“In the summer I try to camp and hang out by the water.

“Growing up in Fernie too you’re surrounded by awesome views and that had a big role in it as well.”

Anthony recorded Lakeside himself after completing a music production and audio engineering course at SAIT in Calgary in 2013.

The title track by the same name is what got the ball rolling for the 23-year-old.

“I hadn’t put anything out in a long time and I had the chords for it forever, but it wasn’t until I was gearing up for a show in Kimberley, and I was staying at the campground there and I was kind of messing around and that’s when the lyrics started happening for that song,” he said.

Anthony also had a little help from his friends, with Connor Anderson playing lead guitar on Avalanche and Cranbrook artist Angus Liedtke designing the EP’s abstract cover art.

“That’s his (Liedtke) style, kind of like the quirky, monster-esque thing,” said Anthony.

“I had a photo and everything ready, but he and I were talking one night and he just said, ‘you know if you ever need artwork let me know and I was like ‘yeah, let’s do something’.

“I’m super happy with how it turned out.”

As well as releasing Lakeside online, Anthony plans to produce a limited number of CDs.

His next live performance in Fernie will be at The Art Station’s Wednesday Concert Series, where he will open for Deep Down Yonder on August 22.

Fans will be happy to hear that this EP is just the start for Anthony.

“These are the first four songs that are hopefully going to lead into a full length record within the next year or two,” he said.

“That’s the priority, just getting more material online then booking the gigs after that.”
