Fernie and Sparwood have recorded the highest voter turnout in 10 years.
Preliminary results show a whopping 2500 Fernie residents voted in the 2018 Municipal Election, representing 63.7 per cent of estimated eligible voters.
That’s more than double the number who voted in the 2014 election (940 voters or 28.16 per cent).

Sparwood also had a record turnout with 1150 people casting their vote, representing 41.62 per cent of eligible voters and the biggest turnout in 10 years.

In the District of Elkford, 39.15 per cent of eligible voters headed to the polls, with 679 votes in total cast.
That’s close to the 2008 election when 39.63 per cent of people voted.
