100 West Fernie Servicing and Restructure Project petitions have been signed

As of today, 100 petitions to begin the West Fernie Servicing and Restructure Project have been turned in.

As of today, 100 petitions to begin the West Fernie Servicing and Restructure Project have been turned in, Area A Director Mike Sosnowski said.

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) needs the petition to be signed by the owners of at least 117 or half of properties in West Fernie to move forward with the project.

The deadline is Monday July 21.

If the project is approved it will consist of three components; Servicing--providing/ improving water, sewer and storm drainage services, Financing--utilizing government grants, securing additional grants and borrowing money to pay for servicing improvements and Governance Restructuring--joining the city of Fernie.
