Elk Valley RCMP has arrested a suspect in connection to an armed robbery at the Royal Bank of Canada in Sparwood.
The 29-year old male suspect recently moved to the community and was taken into custody without incident yesterday. The police investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
On Jan. 17, at about 4:25 p.m., the Elk Valley RCMP responded to a report of an armed robber at the Sparwood RBC.
The suspect produced a large hunting knife during the robbery and fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash stuffed in a red and white bag. No one was injured during the incident.
As a result of the release of still photographs developed from surveillance footage, the Elk Valley RCMP received information from the public and ultimately identified the suspect.
