Fernie City Council has allocated $10,000 from the budget for a staff Christmas party.
“The City has 100 employees and the expenditure will be dependent on the number of people that will attend,” said Mayor Mary Giuliano. “We will form a committee of eight from all the different departments and we will be looking at the most inexpensive venues and food.”
Mayor Giuliano also commented that just because $10,000 has been allocated for the festivities doesn’t mean that all the money will be used and they will also be looking for some sponsorship.
“Fostering comraderie and showing apprecitation for the work that the City employees have done over the year is important,” said Giuliano. “It promotes good moral."
