City of Fernie to present draft budget at special council meetings; open house

The City of Fernie will be presenting its draft 2023 Operating Budget at a special council meeting on February 6 at 6 p.m., followed by a presentation of the Draft Capital Budget on February 7, 2023, also at 5 p.m.

The public an join the special council meeting via Zoom or watch live on Facebook. Recordings will also be available after the meeting.

You can also take a look at the draft budget at an open house, which will be held at the Senior Citizen’s Drop-in Centre between 6 and 8 p.m. on February 15.Stop by to see what is proposed for the year ahead and discuss your concerns and/or provide feedback to city staff and council. There will also opportunities to provide online feedback via a survey following the in-person session.

Following the special meetings and open house, council will hear at summary of public feedback at their regal meeting on Feb.28, and discuss the tax rate that will be set for the coming year. The financial plan will receive first and second readings on March 14, a third reading at a special meeting on March 21, and be adopted on March 28.
